africa

Well the traveling journal in China last year was great fun so... Round 2! Africa!
My friend Callie again began the journal, sharing some words of her own as well as others (including our commencement speaker/my hero John Wood!) in 40+ pages of a little marble composition book.  At the party before I left, some other very special friends added their contributions.  I promised not to read ahead and only read them as they came in sequence as I wrote.  Like last year, I've decided to post excerpts from the wonderful journal online even though you won't find the same torn pages, pressed leaves, and collected mementos that fall from the well-loved pages.

I started on a study abroad through school to the University of Stellenbosch...
we had a hellacious time getting there
finally started our home away from home routine
went site seeing in cape town
climbed around the cape of good hope
kayaked along the western coast

Which included some safaris...

Then when they all left to go back to the states, I flew up to Tanzania to meet mom and...
And climb Mt. Kilimanjaro...
day 1
day 2
day 3
day 4
day 5
day 6

And go on some safaris to Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti...

Then to finish in Arusha for a couple of days
