tell-u-ride

No better way to start off winter break than a fabulous trip with family and friends- especially when spent in the snow-covered mountains of Colorado!

a few of my favorite things...

I've combined 2 of my (recently) favorite things: the free people blog and yoga.  Every yoga class, Debi closes with the saying, "Let go, fear less, and love more."  I love it!  And, I am clearly obsessed with finding new ways to distract myself from exams and studying.  A favorite being blogs and Free People happens to update their blog multiple times a day- how convenient!

What a wonderful week of fun!  Got a little bit of everything: fat people on a plane (very few as we were en route to Denver, but of course next to me), Cousin Ian, legos, Winter Park, Eye Trip, A-Basin, my old Moondance counselor- Kyle Jackson!, Denver, the real Chubby's mexican with ridiculously heavy burritos, Copper Mountain, my birthday!, Boulder, feathers in my hair, some more Winter Park with more snow, vegan Thanksgiving dinner- yummm, Red Rocks, and back home to humid hotlanta for a lovely birthday breakfast with fabulous friends and family, UGA defeating Tech with the happy family.  I'd say it was a great week!  And, I'm thankful for all of it!!

girl's night in!

sunset car ride

Caroline's virgin voyage to Trader Joe's!

Emily, Caroline, Me
After a beautiful car ride but major let down- the corn maze was closed!- we (Emily, Caroline, and I) decided to have a night in, cooking, baking, laughing.  Our menu consisted of festive pumpkin tacos with veggies and pumpkin seeds, banana bread, and cookies made from the leftover pumpkin filling. (the curry was a nice touch.)  And what a great time it was!

first steps

I've finally decided to take the challenge of writing and updating a blog of my own.  Being a slow reader myself, I'm going to try to have more pictures rather than "thousand words"s.  However, I am notorious for lacking in my photo uploading skills, so this may be a problem...  Needless to say, I will try my best!
Happy readings!

And the reason for starting now is that I have finally finished typing out my journal from China/Tibet this summer. [see the china 2010 page for that]

adieu, adieu

Oh how I dislike farewells! I don’t want to go home. I’ve realized that I won’t really be able to start over at UGA, despite what people say. I can feel the burdens already!!

I’ve never experienced so much freedom (not from my parents and supervision but from my own worries and obligations). I mean, I’ve read book. Real ones cover to cover! I’ve laid out on a beach just for fun! No cell phone. No schedule. I think this is why I enjoy traveling so much. It’s the one time I can get the closest to starting anew.

But you know, I came hoping to find myself and answers, but I’m returning as a lost soul instead. Life’s a journey- that’s for sure. It’s just too bad you only get 1 shot. Only 1 life to live and do everything.

I love my family, don’t get me wrong. I think I really lucked out with them. And thank you to all of my friends, as well as everyone that’s crossed my path. I love y’all! And God knows I need y’all!

market chaos

Today I went to Mong Kok. Aka chaos. It’s supposed to be the most populous shopping area or something. The main road is called Nathan Road! There was a bird market. It smelled like shit and totally freaked me out. I may have nightmares tonight. But the flower market and goldfish market were both a bit better.

This afternoon, I met up with Uncle Tim and Skye and we all went to the HK Art Museum. Unfortunately, pretty lame.
