go braves

We hadn't been to a Braves game in years... but Saturday was a 'family day' (+the brown's) and we went to Turner Field to see the Braves take on the Marlins. Braves 5, Marlins 1. woohoo!
Beautiful evening and great fun!

We had a tailgate too:

so wise

I got my wisdom teeth pulled on monday. It's been miserable.  Can't eat. Can't sleep. Can't do anything. The best that's come from it? ridiculous pictures.  So enjoy.

born free

Mom and I spent our evening watching one of our favorite movies, Born Free.  I remember watching it again and again throughout my childhood; always a favorite.  It'd been years since either of us had watched it and within that time, we'd forgotten the fact that it was made in 1966... certainly before HD...

I even learned how to play the one song on the piano. It makes my mom cry.

"Born free, as free as the wind blows
As free as the grass grows
Born free to follow your heart

Live free, and beauty surrounds you
The world still astounds you
Each time you look at a star

*Stay free, where no walls divide you
You're free as a roaring tide
So there's no need to hide

Born free, and life is worth living
But only worth living
Cause you're born free"

I want to be Joy Adamson!

(I also just finished reading I Dreamed of Africa. I highly recommend it! Wouldn't mind being Kuki Gallman either...)

funday quote

I'm sorry I've been slacking on the funday quotes... but here's a good one. I love it.

And I find it especially fitting because last night I stayed up with a good friend talking about life (as we tend to do) until the early hours of morning.  We talked about our idols, created a twitter (even though I haven't quite figured it out), and dreamed about our lives and what we can/want to do with them.  I always feel so inspired after our big picture/life convos.
And then tonight we had some more friends over for dinner/catch-up, sharing stories from around the world, literally.  My favorite cooking buddy, Bozz came over to help make dinner (like she did this night) and get excited about things like 23 feet, raw food, art projects, and farmer's markets–things I can enthusiastically share with few people.
So, enjoy...!

i love this book/movie so much! it makes me cry...

"Some people do not have to search -
They find their niche early in life and rest there,
seemingly contented and resigned.
they do not seem to ask much of life,
sometimes they do not seem to take it seriously.
At times I envy them, but usually I do not understand them.
Seldom do they understand me.
I am one of the searchers.
there are, I believe, millions of us.
We are not unhappy, but neither are we really content.
We continue to explore life,
hoping to uncover its ultimate secret.
We continue to explore ourselves, hoping to understand.
We like to walk along the beach -
We are drawn by the ocean, taken by its power,
its unceasing motion,
its mystery and unspeakable beauty.
We like forests and mountains,
deserts and hidden rivers,
and the lonely cities as well.
Our sadness is as much a part of our lives
as is our laughter.
to share our sadness with one we love is perhaps
as great a joy as we can know —
unless it be to share our laughter.
We searchers are ambitious only for life itself,
for everything beautiful it can provide.
Most of all we want to love and be loved.
We want to live in a relationship that
will not impede our wandering,
nor prevent our search,
nor lock us in prison walls;
that will take us for what little we have to give.
We do not want to prove ourselves to another
or to compete for love.
We are wanderers, dreamers and lovers –
lonely men and women who dare to ask of life
everything good and beautiful."

I think I am one of these people...

climbing

I took a couple of Nate's friends climbing at Stone Summit.  What an adventure! Lots of fun and laughs. The day included dance parties in the car (and with neighboring cars) and in parking lots, chinese fire drills, "shaken" beef from chateau de saigon (yumm), goofing around, as well as a day of climbing that resulted in sore arms for everyone.

lake dayz

We went up to the lake with the Kuik's this weekend (and, well, I stayed a few more days).  Such a perfect vacation! And, I finally got some sun :)  [ok, I had ZERO tan lines. not even a farmer's tan.  I don't remember the  last time I looked like that!]

happy family!

The weekend was filled with lazy days by the water, skiing/wake boarding/tubing behind the boat, bananagrams, puzzles, blackberry pickin', yummy food, cards, and lots of laughs! What a way to spend time!
And the best part is that we had no sense of time there–just livin in the moment.
