a visit from mom

We finally figured out a time for Mom to come pay a visit to Oxford: my last week of school. As chaotic as those last few days were with last minute papers and difficult goodbyes, it was so so nice to have her here! She also forced me to play tourist in Oxford and take pictures of the place that has been home for the last couple months. Thank you!

We climbed to the top of St. Mary's for the sunset

We even paid a visit to my favorite, grossest club: PT.

She got to see me play some polo for the first time in a little Christmas tournament.

We had such a fabulous time in a city that will certainly be missed. From Oxford, we went to London to catch up with some great friends. Natalie and her mum were gracious hosts, making sure we never went more than minutes without a good meal. It sure was great to catch up with all of them!

Most unfortunately, my phone got stolen my last night in London so all those pictures are gone :(

tunnel beach

As the days have become hours until we leave, the tears flow and goodbyes are a plenty, I am all so thankful for everything that has happened over the past few months in this incredible place.  Dunners will forever have a place in my heart – the good, the bad, and even the ugly.  As a last trip (?),  Lindsey, Jan (her cute little Czech boy) and I piled into the cockroach to go to a beach right down the road that we'd neglected to see until now.  It was so worth the quick trip!  Although the temperatures were cold and weather not too beautiful, the place was pretty incredible!

dat little black thing is me :)
It's impromptu, early morning trips to places like this that will make me forever love New Zealand!

fiji goodbyes

Woke up to Billy asking us to move so they could set up breakfast. We simply moved a few feet and just watched the sea, mesmerized by the waves rolling up the sand. This can't be a real place.

Spent most of the morning snorkeling. for hours. Crystal clear water this time. Saw a lion fish. And of course I didn't take the camera this time. Ah jeez.
Jumped off the boat with Chris and George (locals). They're so cute. We laughed and played for forever. Then Erin, Joey, George and I had an underwater dance party. I have no idea how it started butit was so fun.
Swam back to shore in time for one last lunch.  They played music for us again. I freaking love the bass they put together.

Seth broke $600. Well done.
Packed our bags. Exchanged facebook info. Goodbyes are never easy, that's for sure. But at least i'm not going home home just yet.  I'll never for get them.

they have the biggest feet ever.

We all loaded onto the skiffs out to board the ferry back to Nadi.

Then it was back to Sofitel for one last night before we're off to New Zealand!

the beginning of goodbyes

As you may well know, tomorrow, I embark to the other side of the world for the next six months (or as my friends are led to believe, for forever).  And while I've been busy, working {a lot} over the past few weeks, it hasn't hit me that I will (a) be leaving (b) life at UGA and at home goes on without me and (c) I always manage to overestimate my productiveness of time!!

I went up to Athens on Fri to say goodbyes to friends there... had a lovely {3 hour} dinner with high school friends. Went out with a bang. Stayed up til the wee hours of morning talking with some great people. Had another great breakfast at Mama's Boy.

im gonna miss you girls!!

What a random, but fabulous last visit to Athens for a while! I sure am going to miss it!

And then tonight, my sweet little Katie came over to join the family for a last family dinner. She wrote me this all too touching post {makes me cry} on her very own blog.  I certainly treasure our time together and will miss the company over the next short period of my life.

However, I am just a quick skype away!

I may be out of touch over the next few days. Not sure if i'll have internet in Fiji...

TTFN {ta ta for now!}

i ski for sarah

The world lost a beautiful icon yesterday: Sarah Burke.  She suffered serious injuries from a training session 9 days before she finally passed.

A Sarah Burke tribute video. from Downtofilm. on Vimeo.
made by Zac Moxley

Hi everybody,
As we know, Sarah Burke has passed away.
Everyone is deeply saddened by this situation and all my prayers go out to family.
I made this video from any clips/pictures I could find.
I hope you enjoy this video.
Thanks
-Zac
RIP Sarah

From Roxy: " Her passing is not a cause to pack up our skis, but rather a reason to step-in and ski for Sarah and the dreams that inspired her star to shine."

You'll be greatly missed, Sarah!!!

quick trip to athens

I dragged little Bazzel {who has a new blog–check it out!!!!} to Athens to help me finish moving out of the apartment and do some last minute Christmas shopping {because I had barely even started}.  We ate. a lot. shopped til we dropped–which wasn't that long. Loaded the car like a puzzle. fixed the door that Bear ate–you could call us handymen. And enjoyed Christmasy Athens!

Driving down 316 to Athens feels like I'm driving home!
