We originally wanted to go blackwater rafting today... but couldn't get a tour for all of us :( Next best option? stay in Hahei with Beaker and Alex and go to Narnia. ok, really, Cathedral Cove. Narnia was only filmed there... 

And what was supposed to be a rainy day, turned out to be quite nice! Clearly...

Erin and I had a nice morning walk on the beach to start off the day:

Along the walk to the actual cove, there were several turnoffs– just as beautiful in their own special ways.

We had so many great laughs and stories along the trail! Who knew you could have so much fun just walking in good company?!

We just roamed the beaches, talking and playing in the waves and admiring the scenery.

In honor of it being Beaker's birthday, we decided he needed to get the biggest ice cream cone they had... 6 scoops. And he finished it. without a single complaint. several brain freezes and lots of drippage later, he had it finished! impressive. (we do have it on film somewhere...)

The boys are wwoofing at a farm on the peninsula then leave for the states in a few weeks :(  So, we said our goodbyes and hit the road. again. just some last car flying and "hey cows!" before completely saying bye though.

We joke that we only have 3 friends (Erin, Lindsey, and myself- yes that's 3).  Add-ons include Katie, Cory, Joshy, Scotty, most recently Owie, and sometimes Scotty's brother Johnny.  

We met up with Beaker and Davis in Hokitika a few weeks ago. They've been wwoofing and traveling around the country since then, just livin the life. They just made it up North and spent last night in Scotty's driveway in their car; so, this morning we caravanned up to the Coromandel Peninsula.  We played lots of "hey cow!" and flew the car and sang disney songs out the sunroof. What a fun drive!  {Poor Johnny didn't realize what he was getting into when he volunteered to go with us in exchange of Scotty...}

We found a nice little campground/backpackers right on the beach in Hahei. There was even a vacuum! (Erin and I had some good fun vacuuming our faces... until we got in trouble...) and a playground! and warm showers! 

Shortly after finding an inn for the night, we were off to Hot Water Beach! Although it was a pretty dreary day, it was so crowded. We waited like hawks for a party to abandon its pool so we could take it. You dig down in a hot spring and pools of warm water surface. it was really cool!

Tomorrow's Beaker's birthday!! So in celebration, we combined forces and created a feast dinner complete with a tub of ice cream and proceeded to playing games the rest of the night.  I've never felt like such a child! Some of the rules to one of the games: you can't point- so use elbows; you can't look the person you're talking to in the eye- so look just above or below their eyes; you can't drink you drink with hands- you must use raptor claws to clutch your vessel. As you can imagine, we probably looked like quite the crowd to by-passers–not using hands or fingers and making dinosaur noises. B-E-A-UTIFUL!

The night continued with some beach frolicking in the pouring down rain. Playing on the slides and play-set. Running around the campground. And puddle hopping. All barefoot and soaking wet. So. much. fun.

We have started a tradition of breakfast feasts. It's a great gig. Eggs, french toast, home fries, bacon... oh so much deliciousness! It's a great start to our days! 

We've made a good habit of making proper meals and sharing them all together. I love it!

We got stuff together and spent our day out on the water. Mostly island hopping and pretending to be pirates...

and we hiked up a mountain. what a view!

We ventured on over to an island where we frolicked in the water and played in the sand. Erin, Lindsey and I drew a beautiful sand monster named Helga. She was quite a beaut. While playing sand pictionary and collecting seashells, we looked up to find the boys sprinting down the mountain path yelling nonsense. As they got closer, we could see muddy face paint and ferns tied around their arms and legs and they were carrying large sticks. Savages, i tell ya! We couldn't stop laughing. Then it was back home for some R & R. 

So, we cracked open some brewskies and enjoyed the sunset with some boche ball and photo shoots!

 And then the games started... one of which was a relay race around the property. Lindsey didn't turn when the pathway turned and ended up eating some concrete and possibly may have broken her wrist.  She was quite the sport though and her team ended up winning. Then, we all played a game of King's Cup. I drew the last king so had to drink the vessel on the lookout point like a cat... pretty horrid.
