i miss art.

I went home recently and got to see my mom's birthday present all put together! We redid our deck this summer and I salvaged some of the wood, added a white-wash, and attached some black and white pictures from Africa this summer.  And then we hung masks (Grandma gets Nate a mask wherever she goes–from all over the world) alongside the boards. Check it out:

I also finished an art project I've been working on for a little while...

As promised, some more details of my adventure:

We were originally going to go to Asheville, but then decided we didn't want to go that far. But figured we'd start up 85 and see where it took us

on the road!

Of course we had to stop at Georgia's largest flea market where everyone else was either Asian or Latino. [we saw another 'largest flea market' closer to Athens]

 And had fun taking pictures with the big cow.

So we decided on Lake Hartwell. But when we took a short tour of the campground, we decided to keep looking. The place was taken straight from a horror film script.

We hit the road again. This time ending up at Tallulah Gorge. Got a whole bag of boiled peanuts for free :)

I've been talking about this video a lot lately, and finally decided to share it with my own mother.  [Mostly because Katie thinks I was like this little girl as a child] But, we had a lot of fun showing it over video chat!

I am a lucky girl – got to spend the weekend in North Carolina in the beautiful Pisgah National Forest this weekend! 

The colors couldn't have been more perfect. And the weather? Well that was pretty perfect too.  

Scott and I led a fabulous group of students on a backpacking trip for their P.E. credit.
